January was spent in New Zealand - so basically, on holiday back home. What do you do when you're in your homeland and at your parents house for an extended period of time and don't want to get bored? Well, you go on road trips. And I went on some amazing ones with my Mum. We took time out and visited her hometown (which I had never been to) and then took another trip to the Art Deco paradise which is Napier.
Best time ever.
Holiday over, I headed back to the UK - by way of Australia, Hong Kong, and India. On assignment with Cathay Pacific and Passion Passport, I worked on 'Passport to Asia' and got to experience some incredible moments - no doubt if you follow me, you've seen my favourite image from the trip (below). If not, here it is one more time, and some extra little images which you might not have seen...
March was full on editing mode with a massive load of images to get through. I was headed to Australia in early April, so left a week early to hop home to New Zealand and spend some quality time with my ridiculously amazing nieces. Look at them in the hats I knitted for them! Gah! Also started training up my new assistant, as you can see she has a few things to learn (ahem, fingers over the lens) but she shows great promise...
Flying visit to New Zealand over, I hopped over the ditch to Lord Howe Island, Australia, to mentor two students with Adobe and Passion Passport, with the ultimate goal of creating a body of work to exhibit in LA on Earth Day. Lord Howe was an incredible place, perhaps the most unspoilt in the world - prepare for a lot of animal videos...
Straight after LA I kept on going and headed to Mexico City with the amazing people at El Camino Travel and Richer Poorer. It was an INREDIBLE 4 days running around the city, meeting our creative counterparts and soaking up all the colour and sights and sounds and food we could. Turns out I barely shot any silly little videos whilst there, so here are a few little behind-the-scenes-y shots from those wonderful few days:
I'm not actually sure if I shared any images from this trip! A few days spent in Belgium, drinking all the beer, eating all the frites, and wandering aimlessly around the city...
Aaaaaaaand I spent a few days in Guernsey driving around the island, and photographing a bunch of fantastic locals for an editorial who are champions of the Channel Islands
June was a big month! Along with two busy and rewarding shoots in Greece and Corsica, the cookbook I had designed was also launched to really wonderful feedback - so I thought I'd share a few littles snapshots taken during the design process of Stirring Slowly...
I also had some fantastic shoots for P&O and Lonely Planet - some are still under client embargo, but here are the iPhone snaps I am able to share :)
After a super busy few months, I managed to take a few days off and *finally* head over to Copenhagen to see my dear friend Christina. We drank a lot of coffee, walked a lot of places, met a lot of dogs, and binge-watched Stranger Things on Netflix. A pretty wonderful few days off...
Oh August, you were pretty swell. From hugging (I mean, uh, hiking with) huskies to seeing bears in their natural habitat, 5 days in Finland was an absolute dream. And coming back to London I threw myself head first into the Notting Hill Carnival, and took some photographs of the people I saw there.
September was a month that I will never forget. I jumped on a plane and flew to Australia for an incredible two-day shoot for Google, and afterwards hopped the ditch to grab a week with my family. The project was top-secret so I don't really have that much to show for it apart from final images, but I did manage to find a few behind-the-scenes images from this shoot!
Suffice to say, November did not turn out as many of us hoped. Landing on election night, I'd hoped to be celebrating with some of my dearest friends. Instead, I landed in a country which felt divided, with many feeling lost and hopeless. Through it all I took photos on my iPhone, mostly in black and white. You can see the entire Peaceful Protest series here. And these are some of my favourite images from those NYC days...
